Today's destination is the little but lovely Arusha National Park. As soon as you reach it, you realise that the animals may be the main attraction, but the views rule the show. Green forests meet open plains and a crater landscape forever guarded by Mount Meru in the background. The atmosphere? Calm and almost mystical. And then you spot them: the giraffes. Everywhere. Elegant and curious, they even wander right up to your vehicle. Beyond that, there's zebras, warthogs and trees full of colobus monkeys. You take a break looking out at the water, lunchbox in hand and camera always at the ready. When the afternoon winds down, it's time to return to the lodge, relax, eat and run through everything you've seen today. This was just day one of your safari – and it was wonderfully wild!
